Does anyone know about how many or what percent of canon cameras result with this error?? Its repeated several times and I'll see if the behavior continues this wkend. tried different settings , no change. Also, you shouldn't open the camera to clean the sand if you don't feel confident in doing so. Turn off the camera and restart it to see if the lens error has gone away. At times there may be grain of sand or other debris caught between the sliding barrels. It was working fine without indicating any problem... It must have gotten damaged when I dropped my camera. It was just a year after I bought it so Canon wouldn't fix it.

What I did was turn on the camera, allow the lens to extend, grabbed the lens casing when it attempted to close. i'd rather doing it my way.
